In just over a month I'll be flying to the UK along with a friend of mine. We'll arrive at Stansted airport on September 11th and our plan is to buy a jap car to take to JAE and then drive home to Sweden. We've got airline tickets for the return home on the 16th, but our primary plan is to skip the flight and drive home.

We've started an intense search for a suitable car to bring home, but we would be grateful for any help/advice you can provide us with.

I'll be the one buying the car and it should meet certain criteria.

Price - I'm looking at spending not more than £6000 on the car

Comfort - We've got a 1200 mile journey home, so no millimeter thick carbon fibre bucket seats, please :tongue_smilie:

Unmodified - The car has to be pretty much completely stock or it will be a pain to register it in Sweden.

Turbo - No one wants an N/A Supra, Impreza or Skyline, at least not over here.

Reliability - We'd like to avoid an engine breakdown in the middle of Belgium on our way home Smile

The most common cars to import to Sweden from the UK are MKIV Supras, Skyline R33 & R34s, EVOs and Imprezas. Those are the obvious candidates, but I'm not sure how much MKIV Supra you'd get for £6000? I found this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231024829129 - The listing has now ended, but it seemed pretty good, apart from the fact that it's in Bradford.

We've also considered some really odd choices, like the Nissan Figaro or perhaps the Toyota BB.

A 2003-2005 blob eye Impreza STI would be nice, but unmodified ones seem hard to come by.

Any advice would be much apreciated. I would prefer buying a car from a member on a car club forum rather than some random bloke on Ebay or Pistonheads, but I've noticed there aren't many OJC cars for sale. Do people perhaps sell cars at JAE? Logistically that would be ideal Smile

Your R34 one perhaps?

I'm tempted, but it's quite heavily modified, isn't it? The R34 conversion wouldn't be a problem, but the engine, exhaust, brake and suspension mods would have to be temporarily replaced with stock parts while the car is registered Sad

Manpanzee How about an Aristo ?
That would be nice. There are less than five of those in Sweden. Unfortunately it seems to be quite rare over there as well. I can't find one that is close to stock condition.

el_bandido Gs430.
It would certainly be comfy enough, but all Lexus models are available in Sweden as well, which means an RHD one would be very hard to sell. The 2JZ-GTE Aristo is a different story, since there are no LHD ones.
