I hope not, as then it would be pointless! Hopefully this is the start of some actual competitive pricing for the iPhone..........
I do think the price will start tumbling soon though, unless Apple have locked them into some kind of price fixing agreement.

The cost price of the units from apple are very high and this is what influences the handset price and the corresponding deal
Its also worth noting that all apple authorised dealers sell there stock at very similar prices. Take the laptops/ipods as an example,
I really dont think its that expensive when you consider you pretty much get a mobile computer in you pocket.. not to mention a phone!

redz I really dont think its that expensive when you consider you pretty much get a mobile computer in you pocket.. not to mention a phone!I don't want to start the usual apple argument, but I happen to disagree with this - I am a fan of the iPhone, it is very slick and stylish and it does a lot quite well.
However, I don't think it does enough better than the Magic I currently have to warrant paying almost double the amount for it. Just my personal opinion though

orange have 'given' away phones worth more than the iphone in the past if you are on the right deal etc etc I have never paid for a phone in the past few years and all have been smartphones of some description i would hope i wouldnt have to pay for an iphone either !!!
