Rear Demister
Rear Demister
Could be the switch on the a/c controls, have you played about with anything recently.
What sort of problems ? Do you mean it never comes on, or it's intermittent, or something else ?
The heated mirrors have a separate fuse to the heated rear screen, by the way.
On your age of car Jeff (mine is a V reg, so mine is the same), the mirror heaters are on all the time, and the rear demister only comes on when you press the button. On later cars they changed it so that the mirror heaters only come on when you press the demister button.
The fuse for the rear demister is a 30A fuse at the top of the driver's side footwell fuse box. There are separate fuses for the door mirror heaters. Hopefully it's just that fuse. If not, then it might be something to do with the switch.
I seem to remember you saying the stereo has ERR3 on it. I wonder if someone has had the stereo out to have a look at it, because that also requires taking out the A/C control unit and disconnecting that, so there's a chance it's not quite connected up properly ?
Good call Stevie, check the fuse again if it's not then is it just the demister that's not working does the a/c and blowers and stuff work ok? inside the a/c unit behind the switch there these little stork type things so when you press the switch they push against the switch inside the unit to tell it to come on if someones had the a/c unit out to look at the stereo then the stork thingy may have moved or dropped or something, if your going to take your a/c apart tho mate do it very very carefully the clock displays are really sensative and brake if your too heavy handed, I l know from experience :crying:
Thanks guys. Andy, yes the a/c still works but will pull it out again to check everythink is in order. Stevie, thanks for letting me know what Ampage im looking for, i did look at the panel but it didnt say anythink about the mirrors or rear dimister. Will check all and let all know how it went. Again Thanks guys. :thumbup1:
There's a pic of the driver's side footwell fusebox here. The demister fuse is right at the top, I actually missed it when I originally looked at this diagram and couldn't spot it, partly due to the way it's labelled ("30A RR DEF").
