Registering Private Reg Plates
Registering Private Reg Plates
Hi there,
Wandered if anybody on here was knowledgeable about private plates and such. My perfect plate is about to come up for sale, however, it is of a **10 *** format.
Does this mean I can only register it onto a car registered in 2010 onward? I think it does, and I am not very happy about it!
Does anyone know of any possible way around this? Would it be possible in any way to register a 2010 plate onto an older (say 02-03) car? Maybe be telling the DVLA it was exported, scrapped or cat C, and then re-register it? I have had cars before that for one reason or another have a year on the V5 that is blatantly not the original year of manufacture.
Anyone?
There will be no number plate with 10 in it I read.
It will go 59, 11 march '10, 60 sept 10', 61 march 11', 62 sept '11 and so on.
But thats what i read it may not be true.

Agree With LB, buy it and hold it on retention till you get a new enough car,.
you'll regret it if you dont
just seen Oli's post.
your prob right mate, cause how could you distinguish between early and late 2010? hmmm
Won't it just be 10 and 60 for 2010, then 11 and 61 for 2011, 12 and 62 for 2012 etc ?
Not sure of that mate, its what i read completely so i am wondering whether its true or not.
The DVLA website has just started showing the upcoming "10" registrations that they'll be selling, and according to the page here, they'll be on the road from March 1st.
Also see this from the DVLA :
the short answer is no and theirs no way possible you can register it on a 03 you couldnt even put it on a 09 reg car matey you would need to do the above buy the plate then buy a 2010 car.
