Well there will be a BRITISH GP at one of the best historical circuits in the world.
This deal allows real time for the improvements and investments the venue needs.
Personally I don't care about Donnington so much, Silverstone is the spiritual home of F1 in Britain - that's where it should be and I'm glad its future has been secured.
Donnington had their chance anyway, so it's not as though they got screwed out of it.
And yes I really hope they use this long term deal to put some real investment into the circuit so it can match others in terms of facilities.
I thought it might take another year to sort this out, but I had no doubt that it would return to Silverstone at some point. Great news ! The only bit of Donington I feel sorry for is any employees there who were messed about by the ridiculously unrealistic plans to move F1 there.

The main issue with Donnington is access, even for the "lesser" formulas getting there was a nightmare, with traffic backing up for many miles, at least Silverstone is OK to get to.
Silverstone is an absolute nightmare to get out of, I've been stuck in there for over 3 hours trying to get out (as recently as this year). And the facilities are toss, it's a fecking good job they are getting this extra money to refurb because the BRDC have done nothing with it in all the time that I've been going there. The state of the place compared to other international circuits is quite frankly embarassing.
The thing that would have been good about Donnington is that they knew it wasn't up to the job of hosting an event as big as F1, so were going to extra lengths to improve it. Better access roads are being made, the track itself widened (it looks like a building site at the mo IIRC) and they had to cancel hosting the Moto GP (their largest event) due to all the track work. Since (through their own doing) they couldn't secure funding to finish the work and host the F1 this has now left them with a half dug up racetrack, no money, and no events to host...
The trick to getting out of Silverstone is not to follow the route that everyone else does - when I went in 2007, the roads were all stuck, but when I told my satnav to reroute it got me round everything, didn't stop even once in a queue.
Obviously that doesn't necessarily work depending on where you're going, but in terms of getting from Silverstone back to London it was a piece of cake
It is harsh on Donnington if they had just used them as a way to get Silverstone to agree to worse terms, but it wasn't like that - as much as I hate Bernie and think he's an a**face, Donnington had the deal, and then they lost it through lack of funding.
The only thing that should never have happened is giving Donnington the hope that they could host F1 - it was a ridiculous plan from the start as they needed so much investment just to bring themselves up to where Silverstone already is.
Plus Donnington is simply not as "special" a circuit as Silverstone.......

Silverstone is 5mins from where me and Toxo live and I remember they would route you back the way you want to go as it was one entrance and one exit so we had to go to Northampton to come back to Buckingham ****** stupid.

But its no way near as bad as Donnington is.
