Hi guys,

Bit of a bad day.

On the way to work in the morning and traffic opposite to the direction I was going was busy and slow.

I saw a police car in the traffic but I carried on as normal. Next thing I see in my rear view mirror he has turned his car round and shot off after me. He stays behind me and then puts on the blues and twos and pulls me over. Now I can't really think what I have done.

The Police officer comes over and says he stopped me because my front windows looked like they have been tinted! I mean surely there are more important things to be doing then pulling law abiding citizens for very minor offences. Gives me the lecture of limited visability etc. I said to him that actually I have never had any issues with visability and had the car for almost 4 years.

I have no grip with the Police Officer becuase he is only doing his job (and spent ages complementing my car :lolSmile, but was it really worth turning this car around in busy traffic just so he can give me a £30 fine for tints? The tints are 50% tints actually so yes are illegal but not blacked out and you can easily see in the car.

Then on my way to my final appointment of the day I am on the M60 and take an exit that leads to traffic lights and a ****** VOSA van is in the left hand lane and has just pulled and asked a van to follow him. I am in the right hand lane so he can see me. Because the lights are red the guy in the VOSA van gets out and taps on my window and says my tints are illegal. I tell him I have already been done for them today and show him my fine on the passenger seat. He then goes and sits back in his van.

I am just annoyed that the law enforcment agencies have nothing better to do. I am taxed, MOT'd and insured. You would think that with Christmas coming up they would be rushed off there feet tackling CRIME!

Still atleast I have paid my bit for the Christmas do they are having :drink::drink:

VOSA can force you to have your car inspected at one of their test facilities, bit like an MOT only they don't "let you off" anything. They do the checks on kit cars (SVA's) and all lorries and buses - they are worse than the Police. There will always be police with them to enforce any issued they find.

I hated taking lorries for MOT because **** is their watchword - fail it for ANYTHING.

Saraj,

A mate of mine with an Aristo came down from London a few months back and got pulled too for no reason but to check what he was up to! The police in the North West really are obsessed with tints and plates. Obviously thats why our crime rate is so low and the Southerns are queing up to come up North! :Chair:

Why can the full burka be worn whilst driving? Surly this is a safety issue?

Marsdendean Did he check your car with a machine, as if he didn't then he can't prove they are illegal.

You should have also asked could you "pull" a section of the tint off to avoid a fine. Pulling a large section of the tint off means you are likely to get it replaced legal

No he used the tintman machine. Blush

And I'd rather he didn't pull the tint off, then I would have to get them removed because it would look tacky.............

I can live with being pulled for tints three times (once when I had my Lexus, twice in the BMW) in a six year period. Thats £15 a year in fines.

Because the BMW tints are not that bad they can't issue a notice where I have to have them removed hence the fine.

consider it a 15 pound per year tax for having tints
