How long does petrol take to go off?
Afternoon all.
Now I'm not using the LS anywhere near as much as I used to, and reacon on doing about 1,000 to 1,500 miles a year ish, it means that I'm not going to be putting much petrol in it. As it happens I have now had a quarter of a tank in it for well over a month now. I was just wondering if petrol went off after a period of time.
Also, is it worth filling right up from empty when I refill or should I just stick the odd tenner in it as it's not going to be used much?
Thanks.
Jim.
As far as I know petrol dose go off, we use a petrol generator down at the horse and when we tried to use it after 5 months without using it, it would not start. put in fresh petrol and it started first time.
also I would just put in the odd tenner when you wanted to use it, then you could always fill up a petrol can with fresh petrol and put some in if it wont start.
id just fill up as and when you need to mate, will hopefully save you cash in the long run, rather than filing it all up and then thinking i needed that cash and they dont take petrol in exchange for food at tesco so keep the money in your pocket rather than giving bp or whoever all your hard earned at least it will be in your account earning you what little interest we get instead of them.
i think petrol is ok for at least a few months but not 100% sure on it lifespan but it has all the additives to preserve it so you shouldnt get too much problems if any at all.
