coilover problems
coilover problems
:confused1:
Think I might have a problem with the coilovers on my car.
The rear passenger side shock is not sounding very well. Bangs and knocks whenever it goes over anything more then a small pebble lol! When all the other shocks are quiet.
Have tried the "bounce" test and its damping rate is the same as the other shocks, and jacked it up in the air, and ragged it about by hand and nothing is loose.
So has anyone got any ideas what could be wrong, and whether I should be worried???? :confused1:
Got while to MOT, so if they will just do till next may hopefully can afford some new ones by then.
The car handles like a dream, firm and settled. So a tad confused!
Help!
Sorry to hear of the issues mate!
could it be the lower arm or something like that?
is everything else in the suspension tight?
You can get them ones refilled i think, might be easier?
Pushing and pulling it by hand wont show much up. Ideally you need to get a large bar so you can get a bit of force into it. I'd say its unlikely to be a damper problem, and much more likely to be a bush. Im not too familier with is200 set ups, does it have a ball join on the back? Also check the topmounts and top damper nut are tight.
Hmm.... had a look at this and the ARB seems well attached.
Could it be the bush in the bottom of the coilover, where it connects to the suspension arm??? It didn't look in the best of condition when I put it on. And also would it be the same size as the bush out of my old shocks?????
