So I get a renewal letter through in the post this morning saying that this year will be a whopping £1500! Fnark that I thought, so I hit up the price comparison sites and started tweaking my details.

- Putting policy in Mrs name with me as main driver and owner slashes the quote almost in half straight away (well £890).

- Changing her job title from housewife to accountant (she is my company accountant - but from home) knocks a further £50 off.

- Remembering that named drivers on last years policy also earn NCB, and the Mrs was a named driver knocks it down £100 with 1yrears NCB quoted for her.

- Saying that the car is parked in residential parking (rather than garage), Pow another £40 off. I don't mind leaving it out in the residential area a bit more often if that's the case. Most of the area is undercover anyway.

- Going for a 10 month ncb accelerator rather than standard 12 month drops it another £100. Technically though it makes the policy £2 more expensive per month, but if i can get through the next 10 months with no accidents the Mrs will have 2 years NCB and I'll have a year NCB so the renewal may be cheaper.

How does residential parking rather than a garage knock £40 off? Would have thought it would be the other way round?

IS 200 Sport with a few mods, Standardish IS-F. The IS250 SE-L with a few mods has gone to a new home.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Yeah the parking thing is odd. I used to say my car was in my work car park, which is security patrolled and under CCTV. It's cheaper to say it's parked elsewhere though...

Yeah I know, crazy isn't it. I cant remember where I heard about it, but I thought I'd give ti a try and sure enough ti came out cheaper.

How having it parked in an area where cars are in/out all day rather than in a locked garage with an IR camera trained on the car is beyond me.

I don't think I'll ever fully understand the reasoning e.g. my IS-F renewal came through this week from Chris Knott, more expensive than last year @ £537.00 so I got a quote from the company I have the IS200 Sport insured with and they came back with £471.69 with me as the only driver, but £409.04 if I added my wife as a second driver Huh . I then said I'd get back to them and they offered another £20.00 off if I came back within the hour........so £389.04 fully comp, +legal + protected NCB

Perhaps I should go back and say it isn't kept in a locked garage, but in residential parking

Another thing that I found funny was if I said that I had an "Aftermarket Exhaust" rather than a "Non-standard, street legal exhaust" it was £5 cheaper. Also if I said that I had a front lip/rear splitter rather than a 'bodykit' it was something like £20 cheaper.

I am all for cheaper insurance But please make sure what ever you do that your fully covered, as i hate to see members of the club find out that because of a clause or two the insurance wriggle out of the insurance and you find out your out of pocket.

What i find crazy is there are less insurance claims going in with less accidents and less injury claims but this ends up costing each of us more on our insurance instead of lessConfusedhock:
