IS200 Using Amp Bypass Lead-Lost power to pop up sat nav
Hi All,
Recently became an outlaw and need some help. I own a Lexus IS200 Sport 02 plate. Fitted a new aftermarket double din useing the amp bypass lead. All works well but lost power to my pop up sat nav. I went for advise to an auto electrician but he seemed to shy away as soon as i mentioned it was an IS200, he said he had problems once before and never used the bypass lead but used a standard toyota ISO,he also mentioned a 3rd plug with 3 wires at the back of the factory double din and said he singled out one of those wires and connected a wire with an in-line bulb which swithed the sat nav on but he said that you had to have the wire with the bulb in an accessible place incase of having to change the bulb. To be honest, this method sounds a bit risky to me. So i thought i would seek further advice from outlaw. I do have wiring diagrams for the sat nav and double din. I just need someone to kindly simplify a way round this so that i can still use my sat nav aswell as my new aftermarket Double Din. I am myself a motor mechanic. Just need to know the best way round this and what colour wires connect/disconnect or tap into. Someone must of come accross this problem. Much Appreciated Rob
The Sat nav "talks" to the OEM Head unit, the easiest way is to find someone that makes a "Dongle" to get around this issue, there was someone but I just can't remember his name lol.
Or extend the OEM wires into the boot and plug the OEM head unit in there.
Fargo makes the cables so you dont loose the sound but not sure how to contact him these days.
Unless someone else knows how to make a fix? surely cant be too hard
Thanx a million for your reply, will do some investigating on the dongle but i will sack the idea of cutting the oem plugs to extend the loom to the boot and i don't like the idea of the oem dd sat in the boot trembling when i let rip haha
Cheers Fargo, I agree, There must be an easy fix. Just knowing how. Auto electrics is a mindfield and i won't take chances on impulse as i have seen too much damage done to ecu's melted fuseboxes, dash fires etc. Thanks again, hopefully someone will know an easy fix.
