I bought an IS300 intake scoop a few weeks ago to make myself a cold air scoop to go with my induction kit, similar to the TDI carbon ones. However the IS200 air scoop just goes up and over the radiator, whereas on the IS300 the large diameter outlet hangs over the back of the radiator a bit (about an inch I think)

Now a problem has arisen because the radiator on my IS200 has a coolant header tank on the back of it which clashes with where the IS300 scoop overhangs.

So my question is... does the IS300 radiator not have a header tank? Or is it just in a different place?

Is there anyway of maybe getting a fan assembly from an IS300 and bolting it onto the back of my radiator? (my rad needs to come out for its timing belt change next week anyway)

I know it seems like a lot of work, but I'd just rather not butcher the intake scoop and restrict the airflow to make it fit.

Hmm that's odd as I used to have a is300 scoop and it was ok. Not perfect but ok.

I'll have another check tonight just to make sure I'm not being really stupid and trying to bolt it down to the wrong holes or something. But if not I'll take a couple of pictures to show what I mean.

When I was looking into using an IS200 rad to replace my busted IS300 one I did notice that the header tank on the IS200 looked bigger. Also irc the location of the overflow tank was slightly different.

From what I could see when I test fitted it, I'd need to cut and plastic weld the outlet tube so instead of being round it would be a 'D' shape with the flat at the bottom, which should then clear the top of the header tank.

Right...update on the problem after some more research.

Header tanks on IS200 and IS300 are in different places, and have the 'rad overflow' cap, as its been labeled, on different sides.

The 1st picture is an IS200, the 2nd picture is an IS300 (its actually IS300 fans on a MKIV supra) and you can see how the header tank setup is completely different. The bottom picture is of my actual car, and you can see that even with the overflow cap removed, it still doesnt sit properly because the mounts for the OEM ram air scoop get in the way Sad

I could always just cut off the mount thats getting in the way, but then I still have the problem of the overflow cap/tube thing?

How come you don't have one already? lol

I'm afraid I'll be hanging onto it though, I'll make it fit one way or another. Gunna turn it into a cold air scoop/induction cover like the carbon one Ormi has Smile
