Well having been talking with Jerrick (MeisterR) one of our club sponsors, I have purchased a set of their Europa Coilovers for my IS200.

As he has been very kind and extended the discounted Outlaw price, I agreed that I would keep record of my progress with the install and also give a review on what they are like to live with once fitted.

I will put final results/pictures in my project thread, but I will use this as a sort of 'mini project thread' for the coilovers.

I decided to plan ahead and spent the extra £25 on some 'damper adjuster extensions' so I can adjust the rear dampers without removing the boot lining. And what I most like about the MeisterR version of this item is that its not a solid bar, its a 'cable' as their site says, which means the alignment of the hole in the boot lining and the damper adjuster doesn't have to be 100% spot on as it is slighty flexible

I should be getting these fitted on the 27th while my car is in for it's service, and then it's off to WIM for a geometry check. Next update will be early next week when my shiny new coilovers arrive at work Smile

That's the plan, as the garage I'm getting the service/coilovers done at is about 20 metres from where I work

And I think the adjuster extensions are fairly new from MeisterR, although I've seen similar on other brands of coilover, but they were always a thicker solid bar which put me off.

Ive got these on my is200 and are way better than my teins i had.

also got the adjuster extensions as well but i took them apart and put a rod in them

i found the flexy bit not that good as when you turn them to adjust the damping you have to take up the slack in the spring inside first its hard to tell if you have adjusted them.

Also in the instructions it says there are no stops on the damping adjusters and they are set to some number of turns?

There are stops! dont know why it says there isnit ?

Things done :- SPC turbo kit (custom), Blueflame cat back with custom tip, B&M shortshift, grooved discs all round, Mintex pads all round, OEM wheels in white,Denso ik22s, Calipers painted black,04 spec rear lights, Tein basic coilovers, Helix organic clutch, Fan washer jets, late spec headlights (dark), Carbon bonnet, Hotchkis anti roll bars, Front arm rest, Top box from late spec.

Might look into that as I've got access to plenty of small stainless steel or aluminium bar I could use, how did you manage to line the hole up though? I don't really want to cut a flap out of my boot liner just for an adjuster I might only use once a month.

I had a look through the instructions and you're right, it does say there are no stops, although I think it may only be referring to the stiff end of the scale?

However the instructions also state that they are for all models, and there may be certain aspects which are different on individual products. The other option is that the manual is just out of date. lol

Another update on the coilovers Smile

Big box arrived at work today courtesy of MeisterR...

And some close-ups of the contents...

I'm now debating about whether to get them fitted during the service, or if I should do it myself and spend the money on the geo instead. It doesn't sound like an overly complicated job, and I've got access to decent tools, torque wrenches, g-clamps, axle stands etc. Just don't want to screw up the installation.

Also is there anything else which should be replaced at the same time as fitting the coilovers? New bolts in certain places or something like that?

Looking good mate. You should be able to fit them yourself without much hassle. Pretty much just a case of bolting them in! I plan to fit mine. Of course with a full Geo setup afterwards, this is something I cannot do at home!

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

hello mate there where marks on the inside of the boot lining where the old coilover bolts were touching i just cut a cross there with a knife then put them in because its an x you cant see ive cut it.

also they might will be the same instructions for all models but there is stops on stiff and soft.

My friend changed his over him self in a couple of hours easy job!

aaah I see, I didn't realise the boot lining was that close to the top of the bolts. sounds like a good plan though, I take it I can use much shorter bar when I change the adjusters to solid bar too then?

Do you know if there are any 'special tools' required, or is all I need a good socket set?
