Orange Mobiles HTC HERO (Android) or NOKIA N97
Orange Mobiles HTC HERO (Android) or NOKIA N97
I'd go for the Hero, I've got a Magic, it's fantastic and the Hero looks even better.
The N97 would be a disappointment I think, it looks to be horrendously slow at doing anything.
n97 is a great phone destroyed by a very poor OS.
I dont understand how the samsung i8910 Omnia HD can do a much better job with the symbian OS yet nokia fails. I hasnt moved on form the N95 imo which is slow but useable. Internet browsing is terrible!
Hero is a better device and android works very welll, however after spending some time with it its very slow, gets bogged down with a few apps open. The accelerometer is VERY slow to react. Camera is 5megapixel but not very good at all..
After spending time with both these handsets i have decided that the iphone is the way to go. I gave the rest chance to match it and they failed!! It should be on all networks soon with o2's exclusivity on the 3g due to end oct 9th..
If your with any of the other operators now and a high spending customer or business cust then they may offer you one..
Redz u say u have an n95 have u got the latest firmware on it ?? I got the n95 8 gig debranded with the latest firmware and from what im aware the standard n95 got a similar firmware upgrade too to make it faster and more responsive...and its supposed to browse teh web quicker which mine does....although i use opera mini more as that is much more quicker despite not having flash lite...im sure the n95 (standard) firmware version is around 30.*.*.* or there abouts...press *#0000# to find out what version of firmware u got and post back if its a lower version ?!
Im still on the fence about the iphone if it comes to orange i will give it a proper look !!
Agree about the speed of the accelerometer, no idea why it takes so long to turn the screen but hopefully that will improve with software updates (it seems to know straight away that the phone has turned, but then takes a while to actually reorient the screen)
In some ways you're spot on about the iPhone - it's taken a while to get there but the 3Gs now finally does pretty much everything I'd expect it to. Things that still put me off though are the price (but this should improve once the exclusivity goes), and that you have to use iTunes.
Plus if you use google for everything (as I do) then it is useful - it's really made my life a lot easier since getting the magic.
I've been really impressed with Android, and it really is going to get so much better as they develop it further.
Having got the Magic though, I'm hoping they bring out a sleek version with a proper keyboard - once the phone can do so much you end up using it a lot more and keyboard would make it a lot easier.......
my n95 has the latest firmware, i work for cpw so i get em done as soon as they come out.. i just think the symbian OS has had its day..
android is almost there and i think given time it will be an excellent platform
anyway... i finally did it and bought the iphone today. It was the apps store that swung it for me and, far from being an apple fanboy, it will integrate with the mac!
Its also an unbeatable deal at £31.50 a month for 1200 minutes, £500 txt and unlimited internet/wifi access oh and i traded in one of my n95's and got £81 back!
If you've got a mac, the iPhone makes a lot of sense. How long is the contract on that? Pricing looks good but I imagine on a fairly long contract?
What kind of condition was your N95 in? I got £150 for my N95 8GB at CEX
