Some of you may well have seen Bandit's old motor at some shows recently (pic of engine bay at that stage below). At that stage it was just running standard, i.e. no forced induction etc.

SPC have now put a turbo on it, along with AEM ECU. It's still running on standard internals and standard injectors, and they've dyno'd it at 263 bhp at 0.6 bar.

Not sure if they're going to push up the bhp and see when/how it breaks, or switch to upgraded internals next ?

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.

With the IS200, as I understand it, I think it's pretty well accepted that it can run up to around 250-260 bhp on standard internals. But as I said in another thread, exactly what the main weak point is with the internals is under debate. Perhaps SPC will be able to find out once and for all ?

I hope they do push the internals to the limit Smile also I would be happy with a turbo running 260bhp tbh depending on the cost to get it ofcourse :p

not for me 260 no less :p just kidding na as you say aaron anywhere around the 250 mark would be good but it all depends on cost I'm not going to pay 4k for 250bhp but if we are talking around the 1-2k mark then it becomes worth while

That would be great if the OEM engine can withstand up to 250-260bhp. That is brilliant news. I hope they can manage to find out where and what is the weakest point!

Marsdendean I doubt its 1 - 2k when a charger costs that kind of money fitted. One problem with the lex's. Need a lot of £££ for little power.

My old leon could get from 110bhp to 145bhp for £350 remap!

Well the manifold is £800 quid, A decent turbo about the same to a grand

the ecu i would imagine being the same again.

plus intercooler/dump valve/pipework/fitting/mapping.

I'd imagine your looking at £4k maybe a little more

But then your at the limit, for ANY more (even a few bhp) you'll more than likely have to do the internals etc and your prob looking at the same again for that including fitting etc.

which then makes it not worth the money as your better off going the engine conversion route Smile
I know it was far fetched i'm just saying if they could have got a kit so to speak for around that then it would have made it interesting.

What Stav said. Sorry Dan, but no way are you going to get it for 1-2K. And as Stav said, you'd have to bear in mind you're on the limit of the injectors/internals, so not sure what that means for long-term reliaibility, but it would make me nervous.

Edit - the engine swap route is just as expensive though.
