Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

Tbh a new supra is a bad idea as in my eyes it will always be compared to the original which was epic...so unless Toyota release the new one with a over-spec gearbox and engine from factory (which in this day and age lets face it won't happen) then it won't work.

My wife works for Toyota, they were up in Birmingham last week when the new range was unveiled...

She had to sign a confidentiality clause, but it would appear that finally some good stuff is on the horizon..

I love that supra mock-up, that thing looks stunning!

I see what you guys are saying but off the shelf the supra was a bit underwhelming wasn't it? It's what people did to it afterwards that made it an icon - there's definitely room for Toyota to build a proper supercar, a toned down LF-A might do quite well (if they can keep the price down).

Off the shelf the supra would crack 185mph and 0-60 in 4.6seconds completely stock and as the car was £30k new iirc that's pretty impressive.....the original concepts had over 700bhp but the production model was de-tuned and fitted with smaller turbos however the engine remained the same which is why it's such a strong engine and why people are able to extract crazy power out of the stock bottom end...(John Hodgson who's white Supra is featured in Jap Performance mag has got 914bhp out of the stock bottom end!)

155 and 4.9...

It's all speculation, people have been saying the MR2 is coming back for years and years! Wait and see...

I don't know too much about the supra to be honest, but my impression was that reviews were generally as what's stated in the link below - very quick but not that fun to drive?

Didn't know it was quite that quick though to be honest! In the 90s that would have shamed many a supercar :w00t:

155 is limited top speed, the figures I quoted are US which was not restricted..hell my NA has cracked 140mph on a private test track

I'd be interested to know what they don't find fun about the drive of a supra Smile....granted my opinion may be biased however the one thing I was most worried about was that the car wouldn't live up to the hype I had in my head......how wrong was I lol. It's not a car to thrash around B-Roads granted nor was it a out and out track car.

My love of the supra is both it's looks which imo are timeless the styling doesn't seem to age or look dated when you compare it to BMW's/Audi's/Nissan's etc of the '93 and also the engine/gearbox which as we've said was massively overspecced from factory...i don't know of many 3ltr engines today that will allow over 800bhp on stock bottom end.

Yep as I say don't really know enough, but remember reviews never getting that excited about the handling. But as a car probably engineered more for the american market it probably makes sense that it went like stink and wasn't that fussed about the twisties.
