FirebirdPhil If you use a brake like clamp (as you should) then remove the calliper you will probably get away without bleeding the system. Some people use a mole-grip instead of a dedicated clamp, just be careful about how much pressure you apply. Its an easy job on the IS200.

So if I was to clamp the hose then remove the old caliper would I have to fill the new caliper up with brake fluid then refit that would be ok or would I still need to bleed to make sure there's no air in the system?

Fit the new calliper and when its all back together take the fluid cap off make sure there is plenty of fluid in there, fully open the bleed screw and then take the line clamp off, gravity will bleed it for you, done this many times and never once had to bleed the entire system. A Saab tech showed me this method, it works, its simple and free.

Whenever doing break jobs use a line clamp, this stops the worst fluid in your system going up into the master cylinder.

Not used them so I can't comment either way.

I would say that's a bit OTT, any car shop (halfords) sell brake line clamps I have 2 types a metal version and a plastic one, just what I've got over the years both do a great job
