My problem is this. A while back, the up/down adjustment on one of my mirrors stopped working. I'm pretty sure that the motor burnt out due to water ingress into the car causing the motor to permanently try to adjust.
Anyway, I got a new mirror assembly from eBay. However, the body-coloured section (though the right colour for my car) is more scratched than my own one. So rather than swap the whole assembly, I'd like to do a mix and match.
On the existing door mirror, I took the mirror glass off, but it doesn't look straightforward to extract/replace the up/down motor, and the repair idea seems to be to swap the whole assembly (based on the workshop manual, and the fact that there aren't individual part numbers for the components).
What I might be able to do is swap the whole assemblies over. But then to swap back the body-coloured bit from my own car.
Has anyone taken this body-coloured bit off ? It looks to me like it probably pops out, but I thought I would ask before trying it out, since I seem to remember that someone might have tried this before.

If you pop the mirror itself off you can see them, just unscrew and away it comes.

If you pop the mirror itself off you can see them, just unscrew and away it comes.

1) Move the mirror all the way up.
2) Insert a screw driver behind it and pry it upwards. This will release the lower portion of the mirror
3) Keep moving the mirror up and the upper section of the mirror should also come loose.
4) unplug the heater wires
5) There are 3 philips screws that hold the mirror cover in place (you should be able to see which ones they are).
6) Replace the mirror cover.
7) Putting it back is just the reverse
Lexus IS200 Sport Navigator (Now being stripped again) :blink:
Now Don't Forget The REP!!!
