The Nissan Skyline GT-R is one of the finest Japanese two door sports coupe. The first generation of Skyline GT-R was produced between 1969 and 1977. The name got revived in 1989 with the Skyline GT-R R32. The R32 dominated the motor sports scenario in Japan, with a clean sweep of the Japanese Touring Car Championship, winning four championships in a row. It repeated this performance in the Australian Touring Car Championship as well, winning three championship titles between 1990 and 1992. The next generation GT-R called the R33 became the first production car in the world to lap the Nürburgring track in less than eight minutes.
The car was powered by a 2.6 liter straight six engine that generated 276 horsepower. The engine was boosted by two ceramic turbochargers driven by the exhaust gases. The engine can be tuned to produce up to 1000 horsepower, making it a favorite among the performance tuners. The car features many advanced technologies like an all wheel drive system that splits power to each wheel, according the grip available and the inputs provided by the driver and a four wheel steering system. The car is popularly known as Godzilla, for its ability to out-perform cars which cost three to four times its price. The spiritual successor for the Skyline GT-R was launched in 2007 called the Nissan GT-R.
