....its amazing how you get used to it running so rough!
jimxms If the IS200 throttle cable is anything like the IS300 one, it's well worth checking that there's no slack in the cable where it meets the throttle body. There's a couple of bolts you can use to adjust it in much the same way as the brakes on a bicycle.
I tightened up mine yesterday as it was quite saggy, and the difference in throttle response is massive.
How tight should the cable be Jim? Checked mine and it pulls forward slightly

well i cleaned up my TB over the weekend and totally agree Parth, its a massive difference.......I thought cleaning the air filter made a big difference, but nothing compared to this!!........ idle is back to how it was when i bought the car, cant feel the engine running at all.........started it from cold today and the auto choke even kicked in, something id forgotten it even had lol!!

Marsdendean How do you clean the throttle body. I just wiped a clean rag around the inside but what's the propper method ?
The ideal method would be to pull the whole thing apart and clean it all out. But if its anything like the IS300 TB, its easier said than done.
The alternative would be to take out your air filter, start the car and slowly spray TB cleaner into the intake. So long as you take it slow the car won't bog down too much and it'll be safe.

It should be tight enough that there is no sag in the cable, but not so much so that it actually has an effect on the resting position of the tb pulley. I'll try and get a pic of mine if ya like?

I noticed the other day that with the ignition on, if I put my head under the bonnet it makes a slight buzzing/whining noise, as if its a bit too gummed up to reach the position it wants to be in.

Dean thats exactly what i done, kept spraying the carb cleaner on to a rag and getting in as far as possible with my fingers........defo worth the effort!
I did plan to give it a few shots down the intake but the can finished!! although I dont think it would have made much difference as its running really well now!

So you guys only cleaned the inside of the TB then? You didn't do any of the external spring mechanism or anything?
I'm not questioning your methods by the way, I just didn't think it would be that easy! lol Although I may have a go at taking the TB off completely as I've got an induction kit anyway so I've got no airbox in the way.

Yeap just done the inside, as Jim says theres alot more to it if you want to take it apart and give it a good clean.......but its certainly done the trick

toxo I'd spray some into the idle air intake too to clean out the IACV
Google says the IS200 doesn't have one, and that all the idle control things are part of the ECU controlled section of the TB?

30-08-2018, 02:37 PM #29Correct. I think cause the throttle is actual motor controlled it's just measures things like the map reading and intake temp and adjusts the motor itself.
