Bypass cable and now lacking bass.
Bypass cable and now lacking bass.
I wonder if the 8 speaker system is presenting the wrong resistance to the stereo. That's a lot of load to put on a head unit that's only designed to run 4 speakers, but I don't know how the bypass cable works with regard to summing the loads from the speakers. I'd expect each speaker to be 4ohm and depending how the bypass cable is wired it might be connecting 4 rear cones to 2 speaker outputs, which would make them 8ohm.
I've never actually done this in a Lexus so that's about the most help I can be I think!
Right, I've been outside and had a listen.
I can confirm that all the speakers are working, including the tweeters.
Maybe the stock unit sounds better or maybe after 10 years I've forgotten what to expect.
Either way, I think I need to add a small sub/bass box. Nothing major, just a bit of punch.
Thanks for all your help toxo
Cheers,
John
Both sets of rear speakers may to be working, depends on your bypass cable mate. There's actually 2 speakers on top of each other in each side at the back. Without checking the wiring thou won't know if bothered working.

Yeah that would work! Easiest way is at the connection from the bypass to the Lexus plug see if all the wires are there and working. On one I installed they weren't.
Predator Coolio, sparky. I'll get on to that, after the weekend.
I've got double exams this weekend, covering 14 topics
