That's really stupid, but I guess they were technically illegal so £30 isn't too bad.

But surely the fact that they made you pay the fine but didn't force you to remove them is clear indication that it makes no difference and it's purely a money spinner........

strangely never had a problem with my tints and had many police look at them (never pulled over though), it's funny a friend of mine and I were at a meet and police turned up, my friends car was next to mine and has the same level of tints they pulled him back to the police station to test them but didn't say a word to me? must be the power of the Lexus Big Grin

Lexusboy Still the funny thing is you can wear sunglasses which are tinted lenses but you cant have tinted windows, can anyone explain the difference? Huh

It is not generally not the daytime that is the issue it is night time when you wouldn't wear your sunglasses but you don't take your tints off, then the cyclist comes along with no lights on and it all gets messy :Chair:

Anees you have done well with a £30 fine though as the fixed penalty has changed to £60 a few months back, so you could almost complain as it wouldn't be a legit ticket, although there's always the possibilty they'll just up it Wink

Gord It depends on how dark the tints are, if light getting through is less than 25%, then you have to remove there & then or 24hrs to get removed or 5k fine Confusedhock: and take within the 24hrs to a police centre to show tints have been removed Confusedhock:

Oh, fair enough, but 25% light through would surely be ridiculously dark at night?

In my view it's either illegal or not, if it's illegal (and can be fined) then it should also need to be removed. If it doesn't need to be removed, then it can't be fined either - otherwise it's just a tax for having tinted windows :tongue_smilie:

To add to your point Wozza, Eye contact is an important aspect when driving large vehicles like LGV and PSV's - if you make eye contact with the car driver then he/she is less likely to pull out in front of you.

Hope that makes sense!!

They would be British Transport Police a specific division for the railways etc and were just there doing their job. None of us like it but thats life.

NO! Like any other human being in the world you must have a sense of decency and humanity , but these ***** are animals hence “PIGS”, they need to sort out real crime, and if they DO stop you for things like tints due to tints being a thing which impairs your vision SURELY they should remove them on the spot…what’s a £30 fine? PEANUTS! You will pay the fine, drive off and crash around the corner, but guess what…this is not done for safety reasons but for revenue reasons just as statistics show that speed cameras do not actually STOP road accidents, they just catch innocent people that are speeding!
