Bandit Dont think the front fogs are part of the MOT mate, i've never seen them check mine in the past? Think its only the rear ones they check??

parthiban Just popped out during lunch and swapped them over, driver's side still doesn't work - checked fuses and they're fine, so must be the ballast?
What's the best plan now? Looking at the HIDs direct site as mentioned earlier, are their products decent quality? Could just replace the ballast for £20 then........
However, a whole new 50W kit from them just costs £64 - given this one just failed, there is the possibility that the other may fail as soon as replace this one - in which case I may as well just replace the whole lot, especially as I wanted to change bulb colour anyway........
What do you all recommend? And who should I buy from?

Bandit i was lead to believe that any lighting unit fitted to the car ie: the fog lamps have to work.
Here is a mot list on what lights are checked.
This includes all the following in working order :
Headlights - Low beam & High beam
Sidelights
Brake lights
Side repeaters
No. plate lights
Drivers side Fog light
Hazard warning lights or emergency lights
Left and right, front and rear indicators
Rear number plate light
Not sure mate, just know they have never checked them on any of my cars that i've had? maybe its just the mot inspector being lazy as i've used the same place for a few years now :Chair:
I am not sure what sort of lights are legal in what unit.
It maybe worth checking :

Purvesh Sounds like the ballast. I've bought two kits from HID Direct (one for my uncle) both 8000k and only had the problem with the ballast which they quickly resolved.Cool, I'll check out the link Dan mentioned if he can find it, otherwise might go with them then. How do you mean wouldn't go down to 4300K again? Do you mean just in terms of colour? If so, that's exactly what I want, it's getting a bit chavvy to have the bluer lights, so just want it to look OEM (plus technically I'd have more light on the road which is no bad thing)
Not sure I'd personally go all the way down to 4300k again, but if that's what you want then your probably getting a new kit (with the same style ballasts).

Marsdendean can sidelights class as LED lights? My mot is months away, but i know a couple of people have ditched the sidelight bulbs for the LED stripsYes I'm pretty sure you just need to have some form of working sidelight, I doubt they'd be bothered whether or not it is as it was from the factory.
