Total closure module turned up today. Not being one to hang around, I've got it to bits all over my desk at work Big Grin

It's a Falcon VIFWIN12 which cost £15 from eBay. It's quite flexible, in that it will work with alarms that do either -ve or +ve triggers, even if they don't support total closure. You can even add it into any old remote central locking system, in fact. All it needs is either a +ve or -ve trigger to act. It has an override so that if you tell your alarm to lock and then realise that closing the window will cut some child/cat/significant other/baguette in half, you can press unlock again and the windows will cease. It monitors resistance in the electric window motor to determine when the window is completely closed, and as a result will also cut off if there is an obstruction blocking the window.

The unit has 2 looms, one for power and one for triggers. I'll refer to the loom with the fuse on as loom A, and the loom with no fuse on as loom B.

This is how the wiring will tie up:
Loom Colour | Function | MR2 Wire
Loom A:
Red | Batt +ve | Off pin something on steering column
Black | Ground | Ground point behind driver's side kick panel
Blue/White | Window 1 up, switch side | green wire, pin 3 of electric window control in driver door
Green/White | Window 1 up, motor side | as above, but motor-side
Blue | Window 2 up, switch side | red/blue wire, pin 10 of electric window control in driver door
Green | Window 2 up, motor side | as above, but motor-side

Loom B:
Green / Black | Acc +ve | Again, in steering column
White / Green | + unlock | Not used with Toad Ai606
White / Red | - unlock | *probably* blue/red on Toad loom, need to check
White / Black | + trigger | Not used with Toad Ai606
Red / White | - trigger | brown/white wire on Toad loom (this keeps the programmable output free for something else)
Orange | Ground output | Not used

I find it easier to write this stuff down before I do it so there it is. Time to get busy!

Total closure fitted today while I was hanging around at the rolling road day  Wasn't quite as detailed above as I took the +ve's from the fusebox in the driver footwell and the MR2 is +ve locking so the white/green on loom 2 had to be used. Also the white wire had to be used from the Toad alarm, not the brown one which pulses every 2 seconds for a flashing LED etc.

Bizarrely the TC module seems to close one window first then the other. The set on the wires with solid colours go first, then once that's finished the other winds up, so I'd recommend connecting the windows the other way around to the way I have (as you would mostly have the driver's window open).

[PICS TO GO HERE]

  • Amp board & subs reinstalled DONE
  • Speaker wire repeair for driver's door components DONE
  • Electric mirror control repair Investigated, spare control I've got is wrong one
  • Alarm siren & engine bay switch working DONE
  • Alarm total closure DONE
  • HKS CAMP installed DONE
  • Accessory Fuse & Relay box installed
  • Fan kit fitted
  • Omori 45mm boost gauge fitted in-dash Gauge fitted, needs longer vac hose, ordered. WHERE THE **** IS MY VAC HOSE, DEMON TWEEKS?!
  • Side strip mounts repaired
  • Foglights reinstalled
  • Front bumper repair (fibreglass)
  • Reversing camera reinstalled
  • Exhaust flexi repair

As requested...

Boot popper, ARP flywheel bolts & Walbro fuel pump:

New turbo Big Grin
[Image: td06.jpg]

Braided brake hoses & Clutch hose:

Fidanza Lightweight Flywheel:

The manifold the turbo is attached to won't fit my car as it's from a Rev2 so I will need to have the wastegate ****** mounted onto my manifold in such a way that the screamer pipe still fits around the turbo. A job for Hayward & Scott I think (who will also be repairing my exhaust).

Along with the stuff pictured I also picked up some tidier dash plastics, carpet etc to clean up my ageing interior, and an HKS SSQV which I have fitted. I'll take an engine bay shot later so I've got a reference for fitting the turbo. I need to get oil and water lines for the turbo as it didn't come with any, so my contact at Goodridge will almost certainly be getting that job! My list is getting longer...
