IS200 Using Amp Bypass Lead-Lost power to pop up sat nav
Mine just uses 2 wires from the box mate, they connect to one of the oem connector blocks that come out of the original stereo unit, IIRC its the smaller plug of the 2 that you take out, and both wires for the nav unit push into the one end of it? my sound works fine with it...:thumbup1:
Gotcha, I think I've got the right idea then. Will give it a bash and let you know how it goes.
Cheers and sorry to the OP for hijacking your thread!!
Hi Speedfreek, Was intending to have a go at wiring in 2 diodes and a resistor this weekend to get my sat nav up and running again but after doing a recap on the threads again, it does not appear as clear to me in what to connect to simply because of the the 2-3 choices. I don't mind which way to do it and i will even destroy my oem dd to do it if need be. on one thread it says to connect to tx+ tx- ground which is easy but he also says connect to bu! what is the bu wire? Also do i have to connect to speaker wires aswell? I know you were going to have a go yourself. When you do and if it is a success, please let me know the exact connections simplyfied by colour of wires and which plug/plugs to tap into. Cheers mate
No worries mate, I will take pics for you along the way.
I just need the diodes to be delivered and I can make them up.
All sorted and installed today. Worked first time and the sound worked too with no fettling - though not sure if it was supposed to!
I have enough components to make 9 more kits so if anyone wants one I will make them up and send them out for free.
Pm me if you want one.
Well done Speedfreek. I am very impressed, and even more impressed to see you offering help for free. It is so refreshing to find a forum with alot of decent folk.
Anyway i will have one off you if you still have any left from the 9 available. If you do need any money for postage then let me know. I will see how to pm you and give you my address. I never did try to get my sat nav going as i have been so busy at work and to be honest, I wasn't as confident as you.:thumbup1:
No monies needed for post - it's only a couple of pence
Happy to help
Just to add I now have enough for 8 kits now.
It's going to take a couple of days for the little boxes to arrive so the kits are presentable. My prototype that I have in my car is a bit shite as it's just components soldered together and insulated - so not really appropriate for other peeps!
Incidentally - how much were these being sold for before? If it's anymore than a tenner (half to cover components and postage and half for time) then it was a complete rip off!
They were about 20 quid matey. I think.
Well done for getting these kits made, +rep! A lot of people will be appreciative.
