IS200 Brake Upgrade
IS200 Brake Upgrade
As many of you know a good brake upgrade for the IS200 is to fit 4pot calipers from the Toyota Supra or from the Lexus LS400. In the first option you just need to buy adaptors. It is a good option but as i have read these set of calipers are heavy. The second option is to use the LS400 calipers which are lighter than the Supra, cheaper to obtain and have almost the same performance. The only problem is that the fitment it is not straight forward. It is required to fit RCA custom spacers. You can find them at Figgs, Greddy, at ebay as no name brands or custom made by anyone who may have a lathe or a milling machine. Here below is a thread from the UK Aristo club with a good walktrhough of how to fit the LS400 upgrade calipers. I think i will go soon for this option!

dimis Good question. Not better in which way mate? In performance after a few hard braking stops? Supra brakes are definetely performance brakes since they are fitted on a hardcore car, but I believe the LS400 brakes should also be good since they are fitted on a very heavy car with over 350bhp.

Sparkystav I didnt mean they were worse, they'll prob the same.
but certainly your right the Supra brakes are regarded as some of the best standard brakes fitted to a car. (except supercars etc)

dimis Ok mate, i was just asking since i do not know either. You have a bit more experience since you already the supra calipers and i think you had in hold for a while a set of ls400 calipers so i thought you may not a bit more about both brake setups.
