DAY FROM HELL!!!!!!! Part 3 - Insurance
DAY FROM HELL!!!!!!! Part 3 - Insurance
Ok I'm going to skip straight past parts 1 & 2 of my day from hell (so far) and skip straight to part 3.
Yesterday at 12:00pm my insurance expired. But that's cool because about 3 weeks earlier I'd already taken out a new policy to start yesterday....at, you guessed it 12:00pm.
I checked MID at 2pm yesterday....all cool. Got the green light to say I was insured.
As a matter of course, I checked this morning. NOT INSURED.
WTF. Phoned insurer: "yep everything is OK, MID should update in 48hrs. Here I'll send you the certificate".
Now, I think I'm right in saying that if I go out driving now and police run my my registration, they're gonna pull me over and probably act like tw@ts, ignoring my piece of paper from the insurer?
This is f'ing bad news right now as my wife is days away from giving birth to our 3rd child and now I'm afraid to take the car out anywhere!!!
You will be fine mate, if the police do pull you and have any questions over the validity of the certificate, they will simply call the Insurance comapny direct, there and then. If its after hours and they can't call, they will assume the certificate is real and make enquiries the following day to confirm.
I have had this issue with my own car a couple of times, its inconvienient, but thats the modern world we live in..
So, worry about the wife, not the plod
as everyone has said don;t worry. The insurance database is updated manually so it always takes a couple of days and even a couple of weeks to update.
Cheers for the reassurances boys. Unless its an emergency I'm going to try and not use the car. Police round our way latch on to modified cars like cr@p on a toilet bowl. I've just got visions of them laying the smackdown on me before I even have a chance to argue my case.
Expensive car to insure + mods + young(ish) driver+ not on mid = lets get the batons out.
Jim just check yourself if its on MID

Yeah thats the problem mate...I'm not on it Was fine yesterday afternoon, but I'm guessing that because I took out a new policy rather than renewed existing, they haven't updated yet?
I'm prolyl worrying too much, but I'm having a "world against me" day today.
This situation was all over Watchdog a while ago with so many people finding their companies take forever to update.. hence why the police are cool about calling and checking .. Reckon you're suffering new baby due nerves ..
