So this evening I was just putting the car back in the garage after giving it a wash when I noticed a noise I've never heard before.

With the car in Park when I pressed down on the brake there was a "click" noise coming from the passenger side glovebox area. Sounded very much like a relay clicking on whenever I put my foot on the brake.

However as soon as I put the car in Drive and applied the brake...no noise.

Anyone else got this?

I'm glad its not abnormal then. Today is the first time I've ever heard it and I'm 99% sure it wasnt there before. I thought it might have been something to do with the Car PC I installed today as I tapped the wiring from the passenger fuse box. But if you've got it too I can sleep easy Smile

Gord 1st time for me to Confusedcared: just went outside to try it for you

Haha cheers. How odd

The only other thing I could possibly think of is that its part of the system which prevents you from shifting into D without your foot on the brake?

But still...why it picked today of all days to start clicking at me I dunno.

isn't the clicking just coming the override button next to the gear lever, if I gently tap my brake pedal with the engine on the shift override button twitches

there are 2 causes for clicking noises that i know of, they are the brake and gear linkage and also the starter ign relay in the engine bay keeps switching and ticking i think this is caused by low battery current.

the noise you are hearing is for the gear lever if you dont put your foot on the brake it wont come out of park...does it on the toyotas too..the clicking is to do with the shifter lock
