Phil01 NO, dont do it.
it makes it look like a kids toy car ride at the seaside or funfair.

I'm with most of the others, I'd paint it gloss black if you were painting or otherwise leave it as is. Another option would to cover it in leather if it's possible? Black leather with red stitching would look awesome imho.
