Lexus IS LED dash kits
Lexus IS LED dash kits
Hi guys, I changed my LEDS about 12-18 months ago, I bought cheap ones by size, rather than advertised as a dash kit, one failed after about 6 months but I ignored it as it was just 1 and all of a sudden this week all the rest bar one remaining have decided to go one by one, so it seems apart from the first one, they have a similar short life span.
Can anyone recommend any specific LEDs that I should get a good few years out of?
Its a tough one mate, a lot don't last but its more pot luck than anything there cheap enough anyway so I would just look at getting them from a different company and you might be ok,
Since the first one went would that affect the amount of power goin to the others and therefore shorten the life of them, causing the domino effect, cos I'm thinkin if I replace them all together but reduce the brightness that might help, or am I bein thick cos they are just tiny LEDs
I know LEDs draw very little power in general, it may be the case of them being on full, but it may just be that group had been poorly made its happened to me in the past,
Instead of leds maybe buy some Smds that's what I've gone with when I changed colour that might help
I think all mine were T10 wedge LEDs, might have been one T5 in there. Whatever you do avoid http://www.led-depot.co.uk/ (the site has closed now) but the ****** still owes me £55.
They still owe you money I remember telling me when you came up about them Koss,
That's shocking.
If I remember correctly its 3-T10s and 2-T5s for the dash, I got all my SMDs off ebay and they work great
Yes Pat, I've got the guy's address though. I've half a mind to go and pay him a visit.
I've been through 3 sets of SMDs in my dashboard since I fitted the first ones about 18 months ago.
My verdict it that the voltage to the dashboard is just too high for LEDs, so either turn the dimmer switch down, or find a way of powering the bulbs from a separate power supply that you can add a resistor too.
