hey Dimis. Is there any difference in performance, top end speed, HP gains.
With this install do you need to remove the main cat also to prevent exhaust restrictions ?

Thanks

Firstly there are no gains in top speed since you have a short transmission gearbox. your 6th gear hits the rev limit even if your car is oem. You can remove your main car if you want better performance of install a sport cat as i have on mine. Lastly regarding hp gains you will have a gain but all depends on what else you have done on your car and especially on your exhaust system. if it is n/a or supercharged. regarding which option you have you will have benefits but with different gains. you will definetely see though a better responce in your car.

Lastly most cats on oem manifolds get blocked after 60,000-80,000 miles due to the deterioration of the pre-cats. so it would be good to remove them or fit an aftermarket exhaust manifold. you will have less exhaust gas restrictions and pass mot!

the other option is to get a 2nd hand manifold or remover your current one if you can have it off the road for a day or too, and either cut the manifold, and bang the cats out then weld, or have the cats cut out then pipes welded in.

my friend Chris ran his charged IS on a 'cut and shut' manifold and had no problems, was alot cheaper than a new manifold too!

I ran one like that for quite a while with no problems at all. I'd be interested to know the differences between the one originally posted about and a stock one with cats removed.

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:
