calling all IT freaks LOL---hard drive ??
I have a hard drive with loads of films and stuff on it , but some work on the TV using a media player thing and some dont , but all work on the puter. So can this be sorted ??

Is it possible to change the format of loads of films on a hard drive to another format ???

19-05-2018, 10:17 AM #2i have the same problems with the ps3 and run ps media server and this will even let you watch a iso movie without mounting it, might be worth a try
All you need to do is convert the files that don't work to a format that does (I know that sounds obvious, but without knowing what formats you have that are working and which aren't then it's not really easy to give more advice)
If you're not sure how to check the file type, right click the file on the PC and select Properties, it'll tell you in there what kind of file it is...

That much video will take a lot of processing time, I suggest doing a few at a time, and not trying to do 400GB at once!
What media player are you playing them on? If I know I'm sure I can find out what formats it plays.

MPEG1/2/4 (MPG, VOB, AVI), DIVX (AVI), XVID (AVI)
Personally I would use Format Factory to convert them all to either .mp4 or .avi format. Both are fairly compatible too. All my video files are now .avi as I find it the most compatible format.
There a chance that avi files could be the wrong type of avi (in non-technical terms) so run them through the converter and try them again after.
