Only 23k on the clock as well, which is pretty low by US standards!

How's everything going out there? In more general terms I mean, how is the US looking as a place to stay long term?

well we're not at all home sick yet!!

Arizona is very hot this time of year, but its the worst time of year to be out here come October to May its really good usually 15 to 30C during the day - at the moment its 40+ during the day, so you just don't go out between 11am and 5pm which is a shame for us as we spend a lot of time in the hotel or down the mall, whilst we are waiting on the business to finish the visa processing.

Once we own the business it will be work as usual, well not as usual but I can't say what we are going to be doing until its all signed sealed and delivered.

Cars out here are generally expensive for what you get, there are a few that are good value, usually European things but they cost a lot to repair if you need parts etc.

As a place to live so far we love it, you can get everything, and most things are cheap compared to Europe. For example today we bought a 51" Samsung LCD, washing machine and a TV stand (one that looks like the TV is wall mounted but its really a stand?) and the bill was $1400 including delivery, set up TV calibration and all taxes. Can't argue with that my Panasonic 42" in the UK was over £1000.

Internet and Satalite TV is expensive - but many more channels then the UK, mobile phones are seriously expensive. Fuel is cheap ($3.25/gallon) but we drive a lot of miles to get anywhere and the V8 drinks fuel so it sort of out ways the cheap fuel.

Really glad things are going so well! That sounds seriously hot, haven't been in arizona in many years but remember it being an immense dry heat, similar to that of an oven!

Cool hope all goes well with the business which I'm sure it will.

That's a bargain for all that stuff, that's cheap just for the TV so with the other stuff just crazy (Btw, that's called a cantilever tv stand)

Have to agree with you on the internet, for the place in Florida we pay almost $90 a month for a basic phone line and up to 8meg internet. In Florida electricity and water are also ridiculous (about $500/month electric and $100/month water), are those high in Arizona as well?

Not so bad here, Electric will be $350 to $400/m in the summer and $200 - $300 in winter. Its running the A/C that is the killer. we decided not to have a pool at the house as this also eats electric, instead we have a hot tub, with a built in bar!!

Yep we find the pool heat probably uses more energy than the A/C which ends up making the bills even over the year (more A/C in the summer, more pool heat in the winter)

Remember to show us pics of the new place when it's all sorted!!

Well did the AZ driving test today, 5 mins driving an eye test and 30 question multi guess.

All in all 30 mins and I am all legal to buy an drive a car now!!!

The driving was 6 right turns, and a couple of left turns, then a 3 point turn in a huge car park!! EASY.

Awesome! Random qu, but do you need to be resident to get a driving license? I've often wondered about getting one but have never been bothered enough to find out.
