There could be yet more complication but I can't remember if IS200s are fly-by-wire or not.

toxo PCV passes oil vapour back into the intake. This can gum up the IACV (idle air control valve) which is what lets a small amount of air past the throttlebody to allow the engine to idle. That's quite common.

They might've recalibrated & cleaned your TPS as well (throttle position sensor). This is the black lump that sits on the end of the shaft through the middle. It tells the ECU how open the throttle is (i.e. how flat to the floor your foot is) and also has a switch in it that engages when the throttle is shut, to tell the ECU that it should be idling.

I wonder if maybe this could be related to my 'Car sometimes wont start first time' problem HERE

I've got some seafoam fuel treatment/injector cleaner stuff so I'll spray a bit down the throttle body and see if it helps.

Good info there Toxo.

Could be, worth having it cleaned, can't believe the difference in my car before and after.

And yep £65 was money well spent as I didn't have a clue, plus it was at least half an hours work? So didn't seem too expensive, especially at dealer rates.

toxo There could be yet more complication but I can't remember if IS200s are fly-by-wire or not.

The IS200 is a bit of old school fly-by-cable and fly-by-wire. The throttle cable moves a cam on the throttle body then the ECU decides what it can do and servos move the butterfly valve.
I think that's right

Sounds plausible. The MKIV LS400 is the same.

If the IS200 throttle cable is anything like the IS300 one, it's well worth checking that there's no slack in the cable where it meets the throttle body. There's a couple of bolts you can use to adjust it in much the same way as the brakes on a bicycle.

I tightened up mine yesterday as it was quite saggy, and the difference in throttle response is massive.

I think that's true of all cars  Certainly nearly every one that I've worked on has had slack in the throttle cable, and it does make a big difference.

Lol yeah, though I've only ever worked on the IS300 as my previous ride was a push bike :p

I also fixed a load of other f*kups i made on my car last night and the car drives 1000x better now, but that's a story for another thread.
