Best Oil Filter for IS200?
Best Oil Filter for IS200?
Can i give my thoughts on the subject, when i had my first IS200 it had the OEM filter, i would only use the car 2 or 3 times a month, on starting the engine the oil light would take 3-4 seconds to go out, due to drain back to the sump, if i used the car the following day the oil light would go out quicker.
The car had done 22000 so not old and worn, the oil light time troubled me as an ex-mechanic , so i bought a TRD one, and it halved the time the oil light took to go out, after the car was left for a week or so.
So my conclusion is the TRD filter has a better none return valve fitted than the OEM filter.
Cheers for the advice guys, I've decided to stick with the OEM one this year as I don't have time to order one as the cars going in tomorrow.
Also, is the £270 I've been quoted a good price for a 40K service (big one) + timing belt change (excl. water pump) ?
that inc the belt change?????if so bite the boys hand off
yee, service plus a 'basic' belt change i.e. new belt, tensioner, idler. but not changing the water pump.
haha I have, told him to book it in asap, I was expecting a LOT more than that. I think he may have done me a favour on the price because the guys garage is 2 units down from our workshop and I help load the odd engine onto a lorry with our forklift etc. And my boss always gets his and his wifes cars done there too.
Not too sure really, I forgot to mention I'm providing my own engine and gearbox/diff oil.
Which when I asked Lexus about, they said would reduce the service cost by £77.11
Blueprint filters are really good as well. I've used blueprint stuff on all my cars and never had any issues
Got the car serviced yesterday, ended up costing me a bit more than the £270 I was quoted originally. As I noticed at the last minute that the water pump was leaking so I got that changed, also got fresh coolant put in and gearbox fluid change wasn't part of the 40K so that was extra.
But in the end a full 40K service + timing belt, water pump, new coolant and gearbox oil change cost £540 inc. parts and labour.
Which as the first car I've ever had to put through a major service sounds a lot to me, but having done searches and seen people been quoted sometimes in excess of £1000 for the same thing, I don't feel so bad now.
