Does anyone know what the dead locking actually entails on the Is200.

can someone do me a favour, and test the dead locking out by sitting in the car and arming it then locking again and let me know what you can and cant do on the door's.....

My guess is the following can someone confirm
Door handle lock will still move but car wont unlock
door handle lock wont move car wont unlock

worst case
door handle will unlock and door will unlock
if this happens there is a problem lol

Cheers

Bear in mind that it'll be model-year dependent as to whether the deadlocks engage by default.

On my 1999 car, the deadlocks do engage by default with a single press of the "lock" button on the keyfob, and as Wozza says, you can move the inside handle but the door won't open.

DJ Wozza Sorry I didn't make myself clear :Chair:, by either way I meant with deadlocks on or off I couldn't open the door.

Your deadlocks weren't off if you couldn't open the door from the inside !

If you can't unlock the car either way from the inside, what is the point of the deadlocks and the double click? Need to try that myself as I can't understand what the point would be?

On my car interior sensors are always on, second click arms deadlocks (and you can hear them activate with the second click)

So if the deadlocks are always on, what is the second click actually doing? I'll need to try this out tomorrow Smile

Woz, I never said that I thought you were lying, just that your deadlocks weren't off if you couldn't open the doors from the inside ! Smile

I just tried it on my car and it's the same, the deadlocks stay on. Looking at the manual, it actually never mentions the "double locking" (the deadlocks) being disabled, only the interior alarm sensor (on my early car when you press the lock button twice it disables the interior sensor).

I don't know about later cars, I don't have the manual for that. But it sounds like the deadlocks are always on.

Although it does make another noise when you press the button a second time, maybe this is just cycling the locks again, i.e. locking them when they're already locked and it's doing nothing ? (just a guess, could be wrong)

It does say in the manual for my car that second press activates the deadlocks. And the third press (and subsequent presses) make a different sound to the second press so there is something different happening there. Our Prius behaves in exactly the same way, and so do IS250s that I've had for the day.

I'll try it tomorrow to confirm, never actually tried to see if I could open the doors while sitting inside!
