I thought the 1999-2000 models didnt have a secondary deadlock system? cars from 2001 onwards were fitted with them and they came in on the 2nd push of the keyfob? which is how they worked on our 02 plate? my 2000 V reg didnt have a second deadlock system, and only had an option to disable the interior sensors on the 2nd push of the keyfob? the lights used to flash once for locking and 5 times to disable the interior sensors? and i couldnt open the doors from inside if they were locked?

One thing i did find out was when my car had the fire, was that if any/all of the doors are locked while your in the car and you loose all electrics non of the doors will open from inside the car! so if your ever in an accident you cant get out as nothing works? you cant open the windows/sunroof,doors to get out, so if you have a fire or go into deep water while your driving and it kills the power to the car your stuffed unless you can kick the windscreen out? Confusedhock:

Surely that's only if you've locked it with the keyfob transmitter ? If you're in it having locked it with the button on the driver's side armrest, then can't you still open the doors via the handle ?

No mate, the only way to get in is by using the key in the drivers door from outside! which if your inside doesnt help much :confused1: not sure if its the same on the newer models? Huh

That's not how it works on mine though. If I sit in my car (1999 model) and press the internal locking button on the driver's armrest, then all the doors lock. If I pull the handle then the door won't open. But that's because the doors are locked, if I push the little button by the door handle (the one with the red bit that shows when doors are unlocked), then it unlocks the door and I can use the handle to open it.

So on mine, you can only apparently get locked inside if you use the keyfob button.

mine is same as above - u only get locked inside if you use the key fob - pressing the central locking button locks all doors and to open the door you need to unlock the door using the lock button on each respective door - just pulling the handle does nothing.

Sparkystav what about the other doors?

'tis the same on mine. If I lock the doors from the inside with the button on the driver's armrest, the door handles will move but not open the doors, until I move the red/black button to unlock the door, then I can open it fine. This applies to all the doors.
