parthiban Make them use extra sealant and it should be ok

thats not a good idea as that can cause the screen to lift allowing water to flow easier down the side causing leaks as its not sat correctly

sprinter2012 It's just this 13 page long thread on the other side, of case after case of people having problems with water in fuseboxes and all sorts after having them replaced. Admitidely some of them still have the problem even without having the screen replaced, but the majority did have it changed.

I guess all I can do is make sure a genuine screen is used and cross my fingers :crying:

So since 2005 up till 2011 only 13 pages - how many actual leaking screens? it isn't a major issue. Forums tend to give the impression of a problem where its just a handful of people with an issue, that the fitters have to sort out anyway.

Well pointed out Phil, and as stated if there is a issue you get them to come back out as they will have to fix it

I haven't been through and counted, but close to 10.

And tbh any more than 2 with the same problem is worrying to me.

1 is a mistake, 2 is maybe just another bad fitter. But the number of people who have had problems is too many to ignore.

But either way as you have both pointed out, if it does leak. It's their responsibility to sort it out.

Yes 1 or 2 is a mistake howevre how many IS200/300 are in the uk so the % is very small.

We used to get a lot of returns on the Mk1 focus untill it was discovered water leak under the skuttle plate (plastic trim under wipers) leaked water into the cabin

Just food for thought

Given the importance of a proper job, might be wise taking the car to a depot to have it done indoors rather than with a mobile guy.

Definitely, I'd rather make a half hour journey to one of their depots than have Derrick turn up in his Transit and do it in the cold and rain. lol

Just to point out as a fitter you are not allowed to fit a screen in the rain unless you have a canopy fitted on a transit van or bigger, if its fitted in the rain the bond will not work correctly and hence Leak
