I used Autoglym engine cleaner, Autosol, black to black on the black plastic trims...wD40 is good for hoses to give a clean look too and Autoglym polish on the paint work as its course helping to get into the grease and grim

As said above it should be the same colour, though if your car has metallic paint they sometimes paint the engine bay a flat colour to save costs....
