Just seen my name mentioned in this thread, hadnt read it till now.
Your right in what your saying about the rear O2 sensor. And your right with your 2 options.
I have a spare weld on boss you can buy for a few quid of you want to fit the standard sensor. Your problem then is that you don't have a cat so it may throw up an ecu light.
I also make the O2 simulators to replace the sensor. You can cut the wiring and mount it under the passenger seat. Or I suggest you mount it in the engine bay in the ecu box.
Let me know.
Sparkystav Your problem then is that you don't have a cat so it may throw up an ecu light.I don't intend to decat the car. I've got some pretty impressive back problems and can't tell when I might be out of action for a month, so I don't want the hassle of hoping I'm fit enough to refit the cat around MOT time.

What I did and this is no way gospel is held the center pipe next to the original and marked where it needed cutting then with it off the car cut it made life a lot easier.
With regard to if the ECU will turn off the warning light or not I can't be sure as I've never had the issue
Like your car history/high tech line.. that made me laugh.. however,
My car history of High Tech was working out a new excuse to get my Dad to visit to fix it lol
the light generally takes a good few miles to come on so youd be alright driving there. but as has been said just compare to the standard one

Well, I got the exhaust (Bit of a strange turn of event's there, I'll go into that when I get chance).
Anyway, Next questions......
Am I right in thinking that the hex nut bit of the post cat lambda sensor is 22mm?
If so (As I haven't had chance to find one of those special slotted sockets yet), How likely is it that I would be able to remove the lambda with an open ended spanner?

Lol calling my Dad is well in the past, he has been gone from this world almost twenty years and missed terribly every single day of that! He taught me well, to the degree that he promised me my first car was on him if I passed my test first time.. What I neglected to check was the small print, he bought it, stripped it into four million bits and taught mr what each and every last little piece of metal and plastic was as I made a car out of it. Finances for my first ten years of driving meant I changed my own brake pads, oil, coolants, plugs, points and belts and bodged repairs to anything that might fail an mot ... But the miracle mechanic that was my beloved father left me with an ability to be resourceful.. I like driving, I don't like fixing or getting grease under my nails... I have an amazing mechanic and the greatest friends to help me out of trouble and of course my trusty AA card for the dire emergencies.. Although they won't know where to start with my car! .. So .. I make no apologies or excuses.. And I will not be ashamed of understanding the principles of how my car functions and what happens when I press various pedals and buttons but I wholeheartedly choose to drive her over fix her and am happy to work extra hard to earn the money to pay for that privilege
Oh .. And that battery dead/ forgot phone thing ... Most girls plan better :p
