Help with a few IS200 mods / tweaks please folks
Evening all,
I recently bought a blue 2001 IS200 sport as a daily driver and although not worthy of a full on project thread I'm hoping those with more knowledge than me can offer some pointers.
I'm not looking for power as I have a BPU Aristo but while that's in storage over the winter I'm getting "itchy spanners" and the IS is the cure even though it was definately staying standard
So far it's got TTE front, TRD panel filter and grom adapter.
It's had full fluids change, all belts and Denso iridiums.
Next is a "sporty" stainless catback but which one ? There are so many to choose from on t'interweb Japspeed, Janspeed, Blue Flame, HKS, Blitz on so on.
I want to hear its a six pot and burble but dont want it to drone on the motorway, any suggestions ?
Then wheels, going for aero's hopefully getting them finished in shadow chrome - any problems with this idea?
Lastly a subtle drop to go with the alloys above but not wanting to shake my kidneys out or plan every route to avoid speed humps, again suggestions please ? Springs or coilovers ?
Thanks for getting this far and any and all help much appreciated as I'm fine with the JZS but out of my comfort zone with the IS
Burn it and buy a supra lololol... sorry... I'm sure they'll all be along soon to give you lots of lovely advice
you forgot one! Anti-roll bars are by far the best mod you can put your money towards mate, hks silent hipower zaust if you can find one for a sensible price, springs or coilies? id say, what ever your left over budget wants to stretch too lol
TRD anti roll bars and some meister R coilovers, you will have a very controllable and still comfy ride.
edit: If you want to tune an IS200, sell it and buy an IS300.
Helpful Koss/Sam
Firstly if you want the cheaper option get springs however I would always go for the better option which is coilovers. Meister do a deal for this club with a discount so have a look at the club sponsor.
Have a look at my thread I have a Japspeed but its loud so I would suggest the HKS silient high power exhaust for that rumble but not to loud sound ur after.
I'm not keen on chrome/shadow chrome but they may look amazing so why not.
Hope some of that helps
Pat, I actually wish it was laid out in no uncertain terms that tuning the IS200 is a waste of time. If I'd read that when I was looking for a car, I'd have done what everyone else should do and bought an IS300.
I did give him useful advice on the handling situation though.
Lexuspat You did ill give you that mate you have always recommended Arbs so  for that.
As he's not looking at power and just little mods its not to bad
