Ok folks, usual suspects for causing a battery to drain in an IS200?

It's definitely not the battery as I only replaced this one in April. My stereo double din unit no longer works, so it may have something to do with that (though it doesn't power on), but I doubt it.

This did happen to be a while ago, but went away for some reason. Can't see any evidence of water damage. Any time the car is sat for more than a day or so, the battery goes dead.

edit: quick google search suggests the amplifier may be at fault. The wiring behind my double din is a mess though, whoever installed it was a bit of a retard.

edit 2: if I remove the audio fuse and leave it for a few days, is this going to work as a diagnostic way of seeing if it's the audio?

Problem is the radio fuses control a lot of other stuff. I'd remove the unit, tape off all the wires and try that.

Sorry for asking, but why you not check it with multimeter? It's only and easy way to check consumption .If its gonna be big you can start to unplug things like stereo etc...

because I left my multimeter in Northampton.

I've unplugged the stereo 1 fuse or whatever it's called. 20A 3rd one down. I did notice that an annoying ticking from the passenger side interior is now gone, so I'm wondering if a relay is damaged somewhere.

Stav - what else does that fuse connect to?

Def sounds like a wiring issue mate.

Not sure about the fuse as I'm not at home. But it's on the bahamutcars website under 'power source matrix'

cool, cheers.

The wiring behind this stereo is literally the most retarded thing I've ever seen. It also looks as if someone has clipped bits off and tried to take power from all over the place.

I'm going to put a car pc in soon anyway, so I'll probably just rip everything out and put an after market amp in.

I'll see if the battery drains now the fuse is removed.
