Is300 to j160 manual conversion
Is300 to j160 manual conversion
Hi looking to get real soon an is300 but I'm not wanting a boaring auto so as can't get manual over here I'm going to have to convert it , so I wanna try using the is200 j160 box now I know they don't mount up as bolt holes are different so will need a spacer plate or adaption to the box my question is has anyone got any info on this being done?
I have been looking in to it as well....
There are 2 or 3 options with manual conversions.
1) BMW 330d box with a custom bell housing.
2) 350z get rag 6 speed with bell housing converter.
3) Standard TOYOTA swaps... W58, R154, Get rag 6 speed out of a supra.
You will also need to do something with the prop, as the is200 and is300 diffs are not the same. I'd also try and find an is300 with a 3.7 diff rather than the 3.9 as your gearing will be far too aggressive for the 2j otherwise.
So parts I'll need real free to chip in if I've missed anything
Gearbox (already got one lined up)
Clutch and acceleration pedles
Clutch master cylinder
Clutch slave cylinder
Clutch lines
Clutch oil
Gearbox oil
Fly wheel and bolts
Spigot bearing
Gearbox bolts
Adapter plate
Starter motor ( already have)
Propshaft
Gear stick gator an surround an metal cover plate an bolts
Brake pedal is different as well.
You'll need something to fool the auto ecu, or a manual ecu from America
Gearbox mount
Ah box will come with mount I think good shout though I think I might just get a full pedle set up just to be sure,
I've found a couple of 2jz ge manual ecu in England but the manual swap I found on line the guy just used the auto ecu just did some cable snipping an connecting
