Saw the seats yesterday and they're awesome, having them end of the month :thumbup1:

Car's back in the garage now to get the oil & water pumps done, picking it up Wednesday after work. Changed the shifter bearings on the end of the gear linkages yesterday, while I was under there I took a photo for the hell of it.

Front TRD engine mount (the one I had to get the gearbox fixed for), Goodridge braided clutch hose & some shifter bearings.

Tell me about it! For reference, that photo was taken from underneath the middle of the car, with my legs sticking out in front of the passenger side rear wheel, looking up. So that's the space inbetween the engine/gearbox on the left and the bulkhead through to the cabin on the right, with my forehead more or less touching the downpipe!

Do you notice any benefit from the braided clutch line ? I can understand how braided brake lines can help under heavy braking, but with the clutch I wouldn't have thought this was so important ? Or is it an MR2 thing, e.g. an issue with the existing clutch line ?

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

The clutch in my car is really heavy, I thought it must be aftermarket but Luke took a look when the 'box was off and it seems stock. I'd have thought that the weight of the clutch indicates that quite a lot of pressure is required to operate it and that the hose would come under the same strain as a brake hose. It has changed the pedal feel, with the stock rubber hose there was an indefinite 'grey' area where I wasn't always sure whether the clutch had finished releasing or not, now there is a defined point where the pedal suddenly gets lighter.

To be honest, I got the hose cheap when I ordered brake lines and figured replacing the old rubber lines was probably a good idea because of their age, I wasn't looking for an improvement to the clutch system. But I got one :thumbup1:

Edit: Plus they look cool.

That sounds like a good enough reason on its own

Got the car back Friday night after a mare of a time getting parts from Toyota. I'd forgotten to get a crank seal for the oil pump (crankshaft goes through the pump so has its own seal) and they'd forgotten to give me a new crush washer for the sump plug. Then we couldn't get a pulley for the oil pump (and then when we did it was the wrong one) so that was another delay.

However all back now and it no longer reeks of oil when I pull up somewhere! I am a lot happier now that the engine is mechanically sound, I now have a vague sense of peace of mind! Next stop brakes, then MOT. The list is getting put on hold for a little while as I need to concentrate on other things (which I have added to it below).

  • Amp board & subs reinstalled DONE
  • Speaker wire repair for driver's door components DONE
  • Alarm siren & engine bay switch working DONE
  • Alarm total closure DONE
  • HKS CAMP installed DONE
  • Omori 45mm boost gauge fitted in-dash DONE
  • HKS SSQV fitted DONE
  • Electric mirror control repair Investigated, spare control I've got is wrong one
  • Fit Walbro fuel pump
  • Alarm boot release Broken rear lock removed, pull release connected up in a much more sensible way than Toyota's & solenoid added, just needs cabling to the...
  • ... Accessory Fuse & Relay box installed DONE
  • Fan kit fitted DONE
  • Side strip mounts repaired
  • Front Foglights reinstalled
  • Front bumper repair (fibreglass)
  • Reversing camera reinstalled
  • Exhaust flexi repair DONE
  • New heater controls, boot & fuel flap release & driver's carpet DONE
  • Purchase TD06 oil & water lines + new style TD06 adaptor
  • TD06 fitted
  • Gearbox bellhousing repair DONE
  • TRD torque mounts DONE
  • Fidanza flywheel fitted with ARP bolts DONE
  • Goodridge braided clutch line DONE
  • Goodridge braided brake lines
  • Intercooler out DONE
  • Engine bay cleanup (powder coated rocker cover + inlet manifold + chargecooler, hoses colour coordinated, some new gaskets & clean up oil leak)
  • Diagnose chargecooler leak Sad
  • New Oil & Water pumps DONE
  • New rear pads & discs needed for MOT!
  • Refurbed rear brake calipers, painted and stickered! needed for MOT!
  • Wire up rear foglights using UK MR2 parts (indicator in instrument panel, proper toyota switch etc) needed for MOT!

Rear brake replacement stuff is all here :thumbup1:

Got 2 Budweg refurbished calipers from Brakes International, discs, pads & fitting kits from Toyota (they gave me 25% off and threw in a free can of brake cleaner Big Grin) and the braided hoses I've had sitting around for ages.

My rear brakes WILL work again!

Edit: Somehow I'd also blown both the bulb in my existing (front) foglight switch, and the new (UKDM rear) switch which I was wiring in. I presume the fillaments got melted when I was soldering as they are tiny tiny bulbs. Got 2 of them from Toyota as well and now my new foglight switch lights up. Now I've just got to make it do something when you press it...
