wiring a rear-view camera
wiring a rear-view camera
Just a quick question guys, im looking at wiring my rear view camera in tomorrow now that i have my headrest monitors done thanks to a few people.
I have tested it to make sure it works, it does, good start lol! The way i want it to work is, have it constantly on, so if im driving along(forwards) i can select the video input screen that shows what is seen from the camera.
My dvd player has an option to switch to it whenever i select reverse. Now i want to use this function but my basic understanding tells me that for that to happen i would have to slice into the power to the reverse bulbs. But this would conflict with me wanting the camera to b constantly 'on'.
Any ideas or opinions?!

Are you fitting the camera on the rear of your car mate to have it on all the time? or you can fit it on the front of the car and use a switch to turn it on when you want it on like on the F1 cars? quite good when its at the front and low down as it looks like your doing silly speeds all the time
see im not sure wether to put it on the front or back. Its not going on my car to aid me with parking as im prety confortable and confident with it as is. Just a kinda, 'yea i fitted it coz i can'
Might end up puting one on the front and one on the rear and having a switch to, well switch between the two lol!
Im thinking ill just connect it to one of the regy plate lights. As my HIDs are constantly on anyway! And just press the button on my dvd player when i want view the camera picture.
Which reminds me, i need to go to the scrappy soon, the lil bulb holder for the regy plate lights has corroded and caused the conection to the bulb to the plug into it to fail! bad times. Lexus want 8 quid for it lol! And the other is going to, so need 2!
take it from the number plate bulbs and keep the car lights on auto
