2tongues Get them new seats in Toxo, their great looking things!!

First thing on my list once it comes back from the bodyshop Big Grin I have even got the switches all panel mounted and everything now. Will stick a pic up later.

For now you can have some photos of what's getting fixed:

I have asked them to have a look at the panel alignment down the driver's side too, as the door is too far back and the wing is too far forward. You can see this in the last photo, also the driver's side headlight isn't quite right either. They are all parts I've had off the car and put back with my expert eye  Plus the bumper doesn't fit too well where it meets the driver's side wing - the joys of copy bumpers!

Wheel alignment day didn't go to plan - more info once I know how the company in question is going to fix their mistake...

Sparkystav nothing too major i hope?

They fitted me with new front tyres Saturday lunchtime (£200 odd) and by the time I got on the M25 (probably 10 miles?) and built up some speed the car was veering hard left and I was getting a lot of vibration through the steering wheel. It was bad enough that I had to hang on to the steering wheel with both hands quite hard to keep the car in a straight line. Unfortunately I had to be back in MK that afternoon so I couldn't return the car to them straight away.

Once I got back to MK I phoned them up to inform them of the problem and they told me it was probably due to my car having been in an accident in the past (?!?! it's had wheel alignments there since then and always been fine...), but I could drop the car back to them to get it checked out. This was about 15:30/16:00 so I would not have been able to get back before they closed. I then inspected the tyre and found it to be rather flat! I reinflated the tyre immediately and you could hear the air escaping from the valve. There wasn't anything wrong with the valve prior to my visit, as I have never had to reinflate the tyre on that wheel prior to Saturday.

I took this morning off work and drove back down there on my space saver (3 hours at least at 50mph) and they took the tyre off the rim, identified a damaged seal on the valve and replaced it FOC - it is very likely that this damage was caused by fitting the tyre. This was my only option as the car is booked in for bodywork repairs this afternoon which I have now had to delay! The best explanation they could come up with was that 'these things happen sometimes' - no accounting for my inconvenience, petrol costs, lost pay from taking the day off, etc etc.

It can be argued that I should have taken the car back to them at the first sign of a fault, and that the fact that I live quite some distance from them is not their fault. However the reason for travelling all that way to get the work done is that they are meant to be experts, and yet they let me drive away with an unsafe wheel, putting me and my passenger at risk. I hope my alloy isn't damaged as a result as Yokohama don't make them anymore.

Got an update from the bodyshop this afternoon, roof has been sanded down and all primered up ready for spraying. When I phoned the roof was curing. Also the front end has been cleaned up, stone chips dealt with and fibreglass repaired etc. The front end isn't getting a full respray (aside from the areas being repaired) but rather a blow-over to alter the colour shade to match the rest of the car.

The chap working on it reckons I'll have the car back Tuesday or Wednesday, which is good. I'm thinking about asking Luke from Pacific if I can borrow his Buddy Club exhaust for the tunnel run next weekend... that makes for some epic volume Big Grin

I got done by a CSO on Monday for my illegal front plate so I have decided to fit a UK spec plate on the front. My worry with fitting the jap plate to the Border bumper was that it would hang too far into empty airspace, and then when driving at speed the air pressure would snap the plate off the bumper. This won't happen with a UK plate, and someone very kindly gave me the mounting bracket so I'll do that when I get the car back.

Currently looks something like this:

Jap plate would look like this (goofy front teeth!):

UK plate should look like this:

What do you guys think? The plate will only be secured through 2 points on that thin front lip on the bumper so I think the Jap plate will just rip the mounts out...

Also ordered some parts for rebuilding my old alternator today. I did a continuity test on the coil and it came back OK so that suggests that the brushes / didoes in the regulator are knackered. I have ordered these parts and we'll see how that goes in a week or two.

why not hang it in the space with a plate tilter? hang it from the under side of the lip? so when your moving at speed it does swing back and open the space?
