Got an update from the bodyshop this afternoon, roof has been sanded down and all primered up ready for spraying. When I phoned the roof was curing. Also the front end has been cleaned up, stone chips dealt with and fibreglass repaired etc. The front end isn't getting a full respray (aside from the areas being repaired) but rather a blow-over to alter the colour shade to match the rest of the car.
The chap working on it reckons I'll have the car back Tuesday or Wednesday, which is good. I'm thinking about asking Luke from Pacific if I can borrow his Buddy Club exhaust for the tunnel run next weekend... that makes for some epic volume
I got done by a CSO on Monday for my illegal front plate so I have decided to fit a UK spec plate on the front. My worry with fitting the jap plate to the Border bumper was that it would hang too far into empty airspace, and then when driving at speed the air pressure would snap the plate off the bumper. This won't happen with a UK plate, and someone very kindly gave me the mounting bracket so I'll do that when I get the car back.
Currently looks something like this:
Jap plate would look like this (goofy front teeth!):
UK plate should look like this:
What do you guys think? The plate will only be secured through 2 points on that thin front lip on the bumper so I think the Jap plate will just rip the mounts out...
Also ordered some parts for rebuilding my old alternator today. I did a continuity test on the coil and it came back OK so that suggests that the brushes / didoes in the regulator are knackered. I have ordered these parts and we'll see how that goes in a week or two.
why not hang it in the space with a plate tilter? hang it from the under side of the lip? so when your moving at speed it does swing back and open the space?
