+1 for the wiring fun you're looking at. The instrument cluster is complex on the IS, it's all multiplex with bits of canbus thrown in as well, not to mention the ridiculous thing with monitoring injector usage to compute the fuel gauge Wink Plus *everything* runs through the ECU, even the exterior temperature gauge as we found out on that other thread...

Is the supra motor VVTI? Can the F-CON run VVTI or will you be looking at updated management?

Sounds like an awesome project sam.

I can understand the need for the IS ecu to runs the ancillaries (speedo, etc, even the aircon!) but why the supra one?

I would hugely recommend the LINK brand ECUs

I have a feeling my Aircon is run through the Apexi (the A/C wire is connected) - it should raise the RPM in idle with A/C on. If it doesn't you may stall the engine if you use A/C on idle.

but the Lexus ECU also engages/disengages the clutch for the aircon, and has to do it ever few seconds to stop it freezing over

but itll still need the signal from the Lexus ecu to know when to turn on/off as the aircon ecu sends it via multiplex to the Lexus ECU

Its not a Lexus Air con pump - its an MR2 one, if that makes any difference. I have personally been in it when the A/C was running and it all worked fine. Maybe there is feed to/from the Lex ECU also?

My engines nuts and bolts require more torque than your car produces
