Do some work Tongue

Gauge is now in the instrument cluster, I had to cut some tracks on the back of it to make way for the pressure hose + gauge wiring loom so I'm gonna make up some link cables to reconnect the broken circuits. Siliconed the gauge into the cluster so it's not going anywhere, had to cut some plastic away and drill out some screw holes. Looks stock Big Grin

Next update...

A pic of the back of the instrument cluster before it goes in. You can see a white cable running from left to right, which replaces a track I had to cut through. Then in the middle there is a black pipe (going straight up) which is boost pressure, and the black cable going down towards the bottom of the photo is the colour control for the gauge - I have managed to get it more or less the same colour as the other gauges! Small black box is the speedo conversion to change the speedo from KPH to MPH.

HKS Camp wiring done - this photo is of the space behind the passenger seat with all the carpet removed. The main engine -> instrument cluster loom goes through here, which contains every signal needed for the HKS unit except the injector feed. For reference:

HKS Loom | -> | MR2 Loom
Black | Ground | Any bolt in the rear 1/4 around the seatbelt (see yellow tag in top right of photo)
Red | Ignition +ve | Black wire w/orange stripe
Yellow | Battery +ve | Thick white wire (just strip off some insulation and solder to it. Don't cut the wire and reattach as it *must* be a good connection.)
Blue | Speedo Signal | Purple wire
Brown | RPM Signal | Black wire w/single silver dots
Green | Injector Signal | Has to go back to INJ#1 on ECU. Go through the grommet pictured, across the engine bay to the grommet under the fusebox which will take you into the boot right next to the ECU. It's the 3rd pin on the 26-pin ECU connector which is I think red.

Once that's done clip up all the cables underneath the metal bracket and fit the units in the cubbyhole behind the seat. I've removed the storage box that normally sits here to make way for a custom sub box so these 2 will just fit underneath the sub. The remote sensor lead *just* reaches, like it was made for it - I've run this down the passenger side of the centre console and then down the centre tunnel under the carpet. I also have the 'junction box' unit pictured, which is just extra sensors. At the moment it has boost and temperature sensors attached - I've just clipped the sensor up in front of the air intake so I can get ambient temp readings but at some point it will go in the intake Big Grin

And then sub back in! There's 1 each side:

My car appears to have rewarded me for all this work by developing a new oil leak Sad

Yeah tell me about it... it's only the rocker cover gasket again (common problem on 3S engines) but it's a pig to do with the chargecooler in the way! Tried last night and burnt myself so gonna have a go now that it's cooled down.

Can't do total closure as due to the way the MR2 electric windows work it requires an interface module, which I've ordered so that will be a job for next weekend. Amps etc went back in yesterday but I didn't take a photo of that, and I'm waiting on some vac hose to plumb in the new boost gauge.

So, this is where we're at now:
  • Amp board & subs reinstalled DONE
  • Speaker wire repeair for driver's door components DONE
  • Electric mirror control repair Investigated, spare control I've got is wrong one
  • Alarm siren & engine bay switch working DONE
  • Alarm total closure Needs closure module, ordered
  • HKS CAMP installed DONE
  • Accessory Fuse & Relay box installed
  • Fan kit fitted
  • Omori 45mm boost gauge fitted in-dash Gauge fitted, needs longer vac hose, ordered
  • Side strip mounts repaired
  • Foglights reinstalled
  • Front bumper repair (fibreglass)
  • Reversing camera reinstalled
  • Exhaust flexi repair

Didn't really go well that, did it
