Good news, so do you still have some noises remaining ? Or is that it now ?

good question - i think im gonna go further with it as still not 100 percent happy with it tbh - only next logical step is top mounts but before i do that im going to strip the front pads down and make sure the clips are tight etc myself to satisfy my curiosity - i think if no problems are found there it will go into the main dealer for a proper check - theres always the possibility of non oem parts ive had fitted not being up to spec - dont get me wrong it drives lovely but i sold my old 4x4 the other day and when i dropped it off it was silent over local rough roads by comparison to the lex-that cant be right-tbh i have stopped looking for a 300 now as i wont buy a car that cant be fixed and this one is being a bit of a *****-i got offered £3k for it this evening-about the third time in 3 months someone has wanted to buy it but im not tempted to sell as i only wanted a 300 - still it must mean mines a nice looking car i suppose-

update - although much improved since having the plastics removed and arb bushes replaced im still not satisfied with unwanted suspension noises-this kind of upsets my plans to spend a few quid on a late spec 300 in june when my licence clears up significantly so in an effort to get to the bottom of the problem i have booked it in lexus brighton for wednesday-so at least i will have a 250 to play with for the day again-apparently they still dont think it will be topmounts and mentioned bushes in the knuckle as a possibility which is not something ive heard of before-anyway they say they will get to the bottom of it which would be a relief as then i can get back to the plan of looking for a fully kitted 300

update-problem with strange noise in suspension diagnosed and temporarily fixed by lexus was the bump stops fitted upside down on the new struts allowing them to bounce about on bumps - just got home after a second wim set up - does anyone know a quick fix for steering wheel being not centred or will that need a full geo

Are the noises gone now? And shouldnt the WIM have sorted the steering wheel issue?

yeah that was the idea but the wheel is still off centre-knocking issues not resolved either - i should of let lexus do the work initially and again this morning when they spotted the errors-ill take it back to lexus tomorrow

WIM do normally centre the steering wheel, strange if that wasn't right. If you noticed that straight away and took it back to them they'd have fixed that there and then.

by the time i left wim the traffic was absurd-by the time i got up to any speed on a straight road and realised the wheel was still not straight i was on a motorway and no way would i of got back there in time-and as some of my geo was done by guestimation due to their machine not reading correctly since callibration last week i will be sticking to main dealer from now considering a few issues that have arisen since wim made a few mistakes on my car when fitting shocks and droplinks-ie droplink nut fitted threaded which stripped off the day i drove home on a right handed corner and then as lexus discovered the noise which had been annoying me was in fact the bumper bushes fitted upside down and not being captive on the strut ie bouncing up and down over lumps-albeit fair to say tony has done his best to rectify these issues by buying and paying for a new droplink from lexus plus fitting labour and then again yesterday by kindly paying my petrol costs to drive back up there once lexus identified the problem with the bumper bushes-lexus secured these bushes in place with a cabletie which eliminated the noise and after tony refitted them correctly the noise was back until they were cable tied firmly in place again ! tony felt the new shocks were to blame for the noise but as it has been stopped with cableties again lexus and i feel the bushes have become worn now after so many miles bouncing about on the strut-so all in all the fix to the problems is to book it in lexus for a full geo which i have done to get the steering wheel straight and order new bumpstops and pay lexus to remove the shocks once again and fit correctly.

so all in all at least i now know what the cause of the noise was and is and it can be easily rectified by competant people

Glad to hear you got things just about sorted but still on the subject of suspension noises I've developed on in my lexus that only happens when im cornering and braking at the same time some sort of metalic clanking on the drivers side front wheel. Only happens when cornering not straight line breaking. Ive had a droplink changed on that side thinking it was that. Just wondering if any one has any ideas ? Lexynik did u have a similar sound on yours by any chance ?

Iv'e the same problem Nik, think it's the pads moving in the caliper. I got it fixed before by changing the pads but now it's back, think it's to do with the anti-squael shims needing replaced or the springs that hold the pads in place needing replaced or tightened.
