Bad news I'm afraid... a flailing banana washer released by the bolt falling out has knocked a hole in the CV housing. Fortunately I have a spare passenger side driveshaft complete with a working CV joint so I am going to nick the bolts and washer from that, bolt it all back up together and hope there is still enough CV grease in the joint by the time I get to Lukes for the ATS CV joint not to be toast

Took my car from home to Toyota in MK to pick up some bits and it was only running on 3 cylinders...
Messed about with the HT leads and the distributor a bit (covered in CV grease! there's nothing in my engine bay that isn't) and that cured that.
Took it easy on the way down to Luke's, didn't want the CV to run dry or throw any more grease anywhere. I had already removed the bent dirt shield so there would be nothing to catch anything flying about.
Got to Luke's about 10 and we set about fixing things. We discovered that the remaining 4 bolts on the ATS CV were only finger tight! Have checked the driver's side one and that's fine though. We also discovered that the ATS cage wouldn't fit inside the Toyota CV bracket, so either the ATS bracket is custom or the cage has deformed (more likely as I think the ATS kit only consists of the race, cage and bearings). So after 2 hours of mess, rebuilding CV joints etc etc we put it all back together. Car was back on the road by just gone 1 (although it's low on gbox oil but I will fix that tomorrow).
Got to SRR about 2 and ran both Celica ECUs. They are both identical, so whatever change is made in the facelift ECU doesn't affect performance. So that was a waste of time, but I'm not too fussed as my first ECU experiment went so well, this one was bound to disappoint.
The biggest downer of the day is that my car was 20bhp DOWN on the last run a month ago. This adds fuel (lol! see what I did there?) to my theory that my cambelt has slipped a tooth. We were getting flames from the exhaust on the dyno, as well as Charlie pointing out that the ignition timing was loads more retarded than last time. At least I got to go and relax with a burger and a pint at this stage.
So, cambelt cover off tomorrow to see what's what. Will also need to put the remains of the MT90 I've got lying around into the gearbox. Fun times.
